MATERIALIZING MEMORY

PRESENTATION DAYS

Tuesday October 21 and Saturday October 25

Registration is now open to attend the presentation days for the results of Materializing Memory: A meeting on recording and archiving in processes of cultural mediation. In this research, we outline a constellation of forms and methodologies through which we record cultural mediation processes, through projects, agents, and strategies that we are coming into contact with and that inspire us to think about how to shape what these practices generate.

We will share our reflections and learnings in a workshop to be held on Tuesday, October 21, and an open day on Saturday, October 25

This research has been made possible thanks to the Madrid City Council's Grants for Contemporary Creation and National and International Mobility.

EXHIBITION INVOKING MADRID

A COLLECTION OF WALKING NARRATIONS BY LA LIMINAL

CONTEMPORARY CREATION CENTRE QUINTA DEL SORDO

24 September 2025 / 17 January 2026

Invoking Madrid is an exhibition that collects and reactivates a part of all collected over 10 years of walks of La Liminal, always accompanied by other people who have brought their own experiences of the city and along with which we have been walking and composing other stories of Madrid.

In Invoking Madrid, fragments, impressions, experiences and temporalities are displayed, which present an approach to the city from the collective intimacy of shared walks. It is a stop on the way from which we compose an image, looking back but also in this here and now; and the invitation to make an exercise of collective imagination, from which to project alternatives and wishes for the spaces that we want to inhabit in the future.

The exhibition also has a program of public activites program of public activities that you can meet here, and in which different cultural collectives will occupy the exhibition space to present their work and ways of doing.

SOPA 25 CONGRESS

The SOPA is a congress developed in rural areas in Ibero-America, Portugal and Spain, which aims to promote in these contexts collective feeling, community commitment and emancipation of knowledge. It also seeks to explore new ways of understanding the heritage-society relationship, as well as fostering exchanges of knowledge between different fields and disciplines.

Since La Liminal we participate in this edition, which will be held in Alburquerque (Extremadura), in a conversation about the role of cultural mediation in community artistic processes. We will share space with Jorge Ávila, Silvina Irouléguy and Jara Blanco, and it will take place on Wednesday 15 October at 17.00 h in La Alameda (Alburquerque).

You can find all the information about the congress here.

THE HOUSE IN THE EYE OF THE STORM

WE PARTICIPATE IN THE EDUCATHYSSEN STORIES PROGRAM

The home is often the center of our lives. An immovable place, a refuge, a starting point. Numerous artists have addressed its representation and the idea of expanding it, overflowing it, or blowing it up. Based on these questions about other ways of inhabiting, we write in the EducaThyssen Historias program, a reading project that seeks to enrich narratives about art from an educational point of view.

In addition, based on those proposals that shake up the seemingly safe space of the home and encourage us to rethink its possibilities, we are organizing a walk at the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, which will take place on Thursday, November 13, at 5:00 p.m.

You can read the result of our participation in the Stories program here, and access information and registration for the tour here.
